Baldwin-Wallace College currently offers these summer programs:

Early Childhood Music Workshop
July 2-13, 2001
For preschool and early childhood music educators (previous music training is not required).  This workshop is designed for educators who want to use music as a stimulus to build a foundation for future learning.  Participants will learn developmentally appropriate ways to help young children (1 month to 3 years of age) be expressive through music.
Instructors:  Chet-Yeng Loong and Nancy Lineburgh

The Method Jacques-Dalcroze
June 25-29, 2001
The Method Jaques-Dalcroze is an all-encompassing musical experience that leads towards establishing a relationship between the body, ear, and mind through the study of its three branches: eurhythmics, solfege, and improvisation.  Applying the principles of a Dalcroze education enhances classroom or private instruction by developing sophisticated listening skills and an innate understanding of rhythm, meter, phrasing, nuance, and form.
This one-week intensive course provides comprehensive training and experience in Dalcroze eurhythmics, solfege, and improvisation as well as an overview of the pedagogical principles that govern the method.  Daily sessions will also include teaching demonstrations and discussions.  Participants will learn to apply the principles artistically and spontaneously to a variety of educational settings, including the elementary and secondary classroom, choral or instrumental ensembles, and private studio. Instructor:  Mary Dobrea
