ALEKS (Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces) is an Artificial Intelligence system that assesses students’ needs and provides an online web-based instructional program that allows them to work individually to strengthen their academic skills.

 

Baldwin-Wallace uses several applications of the ALEKS system:

            A.  Math placement test*

            B.  Self-Help tutorial*  

            C.  Program used in COL 020/021/022 classes*

 

                            IF                                                                       THEN

·        MTH 136 transfer equivalency

·        MTH 111/112 transfer equivalency

·        Core math requirement is fulfilled

 

 

 

·        ACT math score at or above 24 OR

·        SAT math score at or above 560

·        Register for MTH 136 or higher OR

·        Register for MTH 111/112 for Early Childhood, Mild/Moderate

            Educational Needs EDU majors           

 

 

·        ACT math score below 24 OR

·        SAT math score below 560

·        Register for COL 020* OR

·        Take ALEKS Placement Test*

 

 

·        No ACT/SAT scores

·        No MTH 136 or core math course transfer equivalency

·        Register for COL 020* OR

·        Take ALEKS Placement Test*

 

 

      ·    Completion of COL 020,021, or  

            022 with an ALEKS overall score

            below 70%

     

·    Contact Placement Administrator to retake the test*

·    Continue in COL 020 the following semester*

 

ALEKS Placement Test Specifics:

 

IF

THEN

·    ALEKS Placement Test score 70%

      or above

·    Register for MTH 136 or higher OR

·    Register for MTH 111/112 for Early Childhood, Mild/Moderate Educational Needs EDU majors

 

 

·    ALEKS Placement Test score below 70%

  • Register for COL 020* OR
  • Contact Placement Administrator to retake the test
