Download instructions
Thes instrucitons are intended to help you download files from B-W's network public drive. For security reasons, this will be possible ONLY when you are physically on B_W's main campus.
Before you begin these instructions, make sure that you have a
floppy disk with enough space to hold the file(s) you
wish to download. You must also know the file's name, and where the file is
located (what directory it is in). For the sake of these instructions,
let's assume that the file is in the P:\Math and Computer Science\rmolmen\excel directory.
- Turn on the computer and monitor (if it is not already on) and wait until you see
a warning box which tells you not to try to log in unless you are associated with BW.
-
Click on the OK button in the warning box.
-
Wait until you see a login dialog box.
-
Enter your user name (usually your first initial and last name, all in lower case, as one word,
up to 8 characters) and your password (initially your first and last initial, the last two digits of
your birth year, and the last four digits of your Social Security number.)
-
Wait for the
Windows desktop to appear.
- Insert your disk in the A: drive.
- Double click on the My Computer icon. A window will appear showing all the
data storage drives your computer has available to it.
- Double click on the Public on 'Slate'(P:\) drive icon.
- Double click on the Math and Computer Science folder icon.
- Double click on the rmolmen folder icon.
- Double click on the excel folder icon.
-
Return to the window showing all the drives. Double click on the A:\ drive icon.
- Click once on the file you want to transfer. Holding the mouse button down, drag the file to
the A:\ drive window.
- A status dialog box will appear showing how the transfer is going.
Once it is finished, you can repeat the steps above to transfer
another file, if desired.
- When you have transferred all the files you want to, click on the
Close (x) button in the upper right corner of each of the windows to close them.
