Purpose
get some practice reading HTML
Preparation
Open the source code of this page and print it out.
The Tasks
I want you to identify items of HTML code that cause particular things to happen when this Web page is rendered through a browser. Carry out each of the following tasks on the printed copy of the source code for this page.
- Circle the code that sets the default color for text on this page.
- Underline the code that determines what shows up in the "title bar" of the browser window.
- Use a double underline to underline the code that makes this page show up with a patterned pink background.
- Place a square box around the single letter that determines that this list is numbered rather than bulleted.
- Draw an arrow pointing to the tag that creates a horizontal line separating the rendered page.
- At the top of the printout, handwrite your name surrounded by the HTML tags that would make it show up in bold face type.
- At least one tag in this document that should be paired is not; the closing tag of the pair is missing. This won't cause a problem in most browsers, but it will if this document ever becomes part of an XML system. Find the place where the missing tag should go and write it in on the printout.
- Find a different colored pen or pencil and underline an anchor tag in this document.
Deliverables
Hand in the printout with your modifications (circles, underlines, and such) at the beginning of class on the due date.
