Each summer, two one-week courses are offered by Baldwin-Wallace
College that
are attended by gifted students from all over Ohio. Admission to the
course is competitive. Students learn about such topics as DNA,
proteins, making recombinant DNA molecules, and the polymerase chain
reaction. More importantly, students actually spend a great deal of
time in the lab doing genetic screens, making DNA fingerprints,
and genetically engineering a baterium so that it glows in the
dark. The course also involves several demonstrations, such as a
visit to Baldwin-Wallace's Neuroscience
Laband the electron microscope
lab. For more information about the program and how to obtain
application forms, visit the TAG Home
