   Reading: Text: Stefan Kostka; Materials and Techniques of Twentieth-Century Music. Chapter 10, pages 198-202.
 Written Homework:  None.
  Analysis Homework: In Schoenberg, Op. 11. No.1 find as many different presentations of 3-3[014] using information given in class on Friday.  Check to see if all 12 notes of the chromatic scales are used in the first 11 measures.

This is to be prepared to turn in today.

 Reading: Text: Stefan Kostka; Materials and Techniques of Twentieth-Century Music. Chapter 10, reread pages 202-206.
 Written Homework: Work out the matrices for the Krenek, Schoenberg, Webern, compositions given bleow.
 Analysis Homework: Study each of the pieces we are analyzing to observe how the composer exposes the basic set.
Look for the following:
Monophonic = horizontal
Polyphonic = use of counterpoint
Homophonic = chord construction

 Analysis Homework: Look at each of the compositions we are studying for items discussed in Wednesday's class.
