1.) What is an ally?
An ally isn't necessarily a member of Allies, he or she is simply a

ignorance. Any ally can be straight or gay.
2.) What is Allies at Baldwin-Wallace College?

student created, supported, funded, and administered campus group.
3.) What is a Gay & Straight Alliance (GSA)?
A GSA is a group where individual allies can meet and work
together on their goals of ending homophobia, hate, and violence, while using a
unified voice. There are many GSA's at the college level and a few in high
schools. They all share similar goals. Allies serves as Baldwin-Wallace's GSA.
4.) What are there allies and GSA's?
There are many reasons for people to be allies and to form GSA's.
Look over the statistics part of this web-site. Being an ally and forming a GSA
is a solution to the problems presented in those statistics. Everyone has his or
her own reason for being an ally, which can range from personal experience or bearing
witness to what others have to endure.
5.) Who are members of Allies? How can I become a
member?
At Baldwin-Wallace College many students, professors,
administrators, and staff are members of Allies. The Allies membership is very
large and you probably know a few people who are members. Membership is open to

the purpose and mission of the organization. Off-campus community members are
also welcome to join in Allies meetings, events, and other activities.

Allies offers its self as an educational resource to the
community. It does this is numerous ways. We hold a Fall and Spring Conference
each year. Last fall's conference was entitled "Christianity and Homosexuality:
An interdenominational Dialogue," it included reverends from a number of
prominent Christian denominations. We hold informative social events such as the
College Democrats and College Republicans Presidential Debate and also
co-sponsor charitable events with out campus organization. When requested, we
have Educational Panels that go into classroom for a day and answer questions
related to gay and lesbian issues. We also sustain a library of relevant books,
videos, pamphlets, and other educational material that is available to the
campus at request.
8.) Is Allies anonymous and confidential?
If you contact Allies all of your personal information remains
confidential. Everything that is said in Allies meetings is confidential and
Allies never asks or assumes anyone's sexual orientation. We really don't care.
Allies, however, is not an anonymous group, our members are usually visible on

meetings are completely confidential, so you must email lambda to get the time
and place.
