Introduction to Allies |
About the
organization:
Allies is the Baldwin-Wallace on-campus organization for straight, gay,
lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students to come together in an accepting,
open environment intentionally designed to discuss topics directly related to
both the gay and straight communities. We
promote the acceptance of all minorities on campus and work to fight
discrimination by educating others on the issues challenging the gay community.
These issues profoundly affect the general
preservation of human worth and dignity.
Gay and straight supporters of alternative lifestyles often encounter problems
of stigmatization, prejudice, discrimination, and violence.
Allies works to diminish stereotypes and
misconceptions directly related to sexual orientation. Our goal is the
promotion of peace and acceptance in all human relations.
Our meetings are extremely informative and
focus on a wide variety of issues.
We welcome and highly encourage all members of the Baldwin-Wallace student
body, faculty, and staff, as well as any members of the off-campus community to
attend meetings.
Allies aims to open the minds and hearts of all people. We strive to educate
others and ourselves on issues concerning the straight, gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender communities. We provide support for those who choose
to embrace any sexual
identity.
The Allies Constitution:
The Constitution of Allies is the formal guide for the administration and
purpose of Allies. The Constitution can be found here.
